It looks like Enes Kanter has been working on his three-point jumper
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a loaded roster with a healthy Russell Westbrookand Kevin Durant, but one of their now underrated players is Enes Kanter.
At the NBA Trade Deadline last year, the Thunder pulled off a trade to land the center from the Utah Jazz. Without Durant for a majority of the 2014-15 season, the Thunder needed help for Westbrook, and the talented Kanter was available for the taking.
This season, Kanter is one of the leaders of the second unit in Oklahoma City, as the Thunder are starting Serge Ibaka and Steven Adams alongside Durant in the front court.
Kanter has seen his minutes decreased to about 20 minutes per game so far this season, but he has been extremely efficient. Heading into the Thunder’s game with the Toronto Raptors, Kanter is averaging a double-double with 10.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
Against the Raptors on Wednesday night, Kanter showed off his range and the clutch gene with a buzzer-beating three-point field goal to end the third quarter. So far this season, Kanter hasn’t attempted a three-pointer before he drilled the highlight play against the Raptors.
Like most centers, Kanter isn’t known for shooting the ball from beyond the arc, as he didn’t attempt a three-point field goal in the first three years of his NBA career. The Thunder have seen Ibaka develop into a good three-point shooter in recent years, and Kanter might be looking to follow in his teammate’s footsteps.
The three-pointer was shocking to see from Kanter, but it did give the Thunder an eight-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
